The application enables the user to monitor both daily and weekly rhythm of eating thus has calendar integrated.

To emphasize the importance of regular consumption of water, a glass image is located at the left bottom of the screen indicating the amount of water that has been consumed. By clicking the Glass image the glass is refilled. One glass equals to 2 dl of consumed water. Information of the daily consumed water is recorded on the scale, which has a range of 2 liters, which is a minimal amount of recommended daily water intake.

The amount of consumed water is recorded in the daily statistics and at the end of the day displayed with other relevant information on the designated screen Daily nutrition status.

At the top of the screen there is also a search field where you can enter the name of the food/dish you are looking for.

The application controls your choices and in case you select a food or dish that is inadvisable or not recommended according to the type of diet and/or food-related restrictions specified in your profile, the selected food/dish changes its color to warn you about the possibly of inappropriate choice.

By clicking on a specific food or dish you add one unit or one serving amount of that food/dish on your plate. The selected food/dish image changes its color to show that it has been selected. Clicking on the same food/dish again will add another portion of that food/dish on your plate. The number of selected portions appears next to the star icon.

Information on energy value expressed in kcal of selected foods or/and dishes is displayed numerically at the bottom left side of the screen.

The number of items (food/dishes) that you select for one meal is limited. You can select up to 8 different foods and/or dishes. The number of already selected items appears in the center of the plate.

To include a particular item into your Favorites category press the star icon that is located on the right-hand side of the item. You can easily remove an item from the Favorites category by clicking on the same star icon again. The star will become gray and item removed from the Favorites category.

For each item there is also a detailed description available (see Extended description window).

Once you complete your selection of items click the icon "Plate" to complete your meal. You will be returned to the home screen.

Extended description window

If you wish to change the number of servings of the selected food or to learn its nutrition and energy values or just to obtain detailed information about your selection, click the "Food image" icon.

Clicking the "Food image" opens a new screen with larger picture of the selection and its detailed description: energy value, glycemic index, nutrient content, vitamin, health benefits, individual concerns, etc.

In this window two rows are displayed. One row shows the information of energy and nutrient content in 1 portion of the selected item, the other shows energy and nutrient content of your chosen quantity.

The user selects the number of portions by clicking on the "-" or "+" buttons. The default value is 1. Increasing the number of portions reflects in increasing the nutrient and energy values of the meal being composed.

Using this screen with the detailed food/dish information represents another option you can use to add items to your plate. By clicking "Update" the food is added to the plate and by clicking the "Remove" button, the food is removed from the plate.

Composing meals and switching between them

While composing your meal, three essential macronutrient's ratios and quantity of consumed water are monitored.

In addition to the information about the energy value of the composed meal, there is also daily energy intake displayed at the top of the screen.

When you achieve your recommended energy value of a meal, the line that represents the energy intake becomes green. If you exceed this limit, the line becomes red.

The meals that have been composed and confirmed are labeled with different color in the above bar in order to distinguish them from the meals which are incomplete or not defined.

The meal that is being composed is marked with yellow border.

Daily nutrition status

At any time you can select button Show daily statistic at the bottom of the screen. After pressing the button the application automatically opens the window Daily statistics.

Daily statistic

Daily statistics screen presents the analysis of the confirmed meals of the day. Numerical data is presented in various ways:

1. Color of the day – using the analogy with traffic light, red colored day indicates unbalanced nutrition and unhealthy eating habits. Green colored day, on the other hand, indicates balanced nutrition and healthy eating habits.

2. Occupation image – the main purpose of the application is to encourage people to adopt healthy eating habits. The change of figure image and status tries to inform the user what do his eating habits and food choices mean in a long term. Exceeding energy values for example reflects in progressive weight gain (therefore the image of over-nourished or fat person appears) on the other hand lack of energy intake suggests the possibility of malnutrition (therefore the image of a very slim and sick looking character appears).

3. Information about skipped meals

In addition the daily statistic view includes:

1. Quantities of consumed water

2. Information of energy (expressed in kcal or kJ), macronutrient (expressed in grams), salt (expressed in grams), sugar (expressed in grams) and saturated fat (expressed in grams) intake. On the right side of the actual consumed quantities, recommended values are listed.

3. Special diagram which shows the differences between the actual energy and macronutrient intake and the recommended one.

4. Basic information about health risks that inappropriate eating habits and bad food choices represent.

5. The type and duration of exercise needed to spend the exceeded energy intake.

7 day statistic

The weekly statistic view offers you information about the days you achieved the recommended nutrition as well as information about the days when inappropriate food choices were made.

The application allows you to follow the distribution of individual values of energy, macronutrients and water intake achieved per day or per last seven days.

You can easily move between weeks by using the slider. The data is represented in a graph that enables you to monitor your nutrition status – e.g. in progress, in stagnation, in decline…

This screen is also accessible through the "Menu" button.

By clicking on a particular measured value, the screen slightly shifts down and a diagram of measured values on a time scale is displayed.

Calendar

The calendar gives you an overview of the application usage. By clicking on the "Calendar" button, a window with a monthly calendar is displayed. The days are colored in green or red, depending on how appropriate was the dietary intake for that day. Red colored days indicate unbalanced nutrition and unhealthy eating habits, while green colored days indicate balanced nutrition and healthy eating habits. If for a particular day no data about meals was recorded, the day is colored grey.

By clicking on the red or green colored days, you can access the Daily nutrition status window.

Clicking on the gray colored days will return you back to the home screen where you will be able to enter the data for that selected day.
